St. Cyril and St. Methodius ' Grammar School boasts its 114 year long history. Four stages can be distinguished in its history, on the basis of historical and political changes connected with the position of the local community.

The first stage covers the period from the founding of the Grammar School in 1891 to 1920, when Czaribrod was within the boundaries of Bulgaria , hence it operated according to contemporaneous educational laws. The second covers the period from 1920 to 1941, the time after World War I and Noyon Treaty. At that time, the conditions in the grammar school changed, and lessons were in Serbian. During the third period from 1941 to 1944, Bulgarian administration is re-established in Czaribrod and new schooling and educational laws along with it. Consequently last comes the fourth period, which covers the time from 1945 to date.

During these stages, the school did not only witness changes of regimes and states, but also changed its own name.

It has not only born the name Czaribrod or Dimitrovgrad. Immediately after its founding it bore the name of Czaribrod Mixed (boys and girls) Grammar School; during the period of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia – six grade grammar school in Czaribrod; in the period between 1941 to 1945 it was a Mixed (boys and girls) Grammar School ‘Duke Cyril' Czaribrod; in 1945 it was given the name of ‘Josip Broz Tito'; and in the ‘specialized education' period – Education and Upbringing Institution ‘Josip Broz Tito'. After that, up to 2003, it was simply Dimitrovgrad Grammar School , before receiving the present name ‘ St. Cyril and St. Methodius ' Grammar School.

Current premises of the grammar school constructed in 1986 boast 10 classrooms, 5 fully equipped specialised classroom-laboratories, a hall with a regular exhibition of magnificent paintings (painted mostly by ex-students), a library with over 22,000 books and magazines in Serbian and Bulgarian, as well as a later attached gymnasium.

Yet, the greatest treasure of the grammar school make ambitious students and good teachers, who bravely stride towards a school of the future, aware of the necessity of professional and spiritual advancement. A proof of that are the two projects accepted by the Ministry of Education and Sport, which have a goal of upgrading and modernizing the schooling process, as well as opening the doors to cooperation with other schools, domestic or from abroad, which is demonstrated by the school maxim ‘a school without walls'

The first realized project was the school media centre (officially opened on 27 January 2004 ), which has the objective of raising knowledge level and quality, as well as modernizing the teaching process. The media centre is functional even when the school is closed, and its services will be available not only to students, but to all interested residents.

The second project about international cooperation titled ‘A Study Visit of Our Students and Teachers to a School Abroad', has been worked up by the school development team, and accepted by the Ministry of Education and Sport.

Apart from the grammar school classes, the school encompasses branch classes from the School of Tourism and Catering from Niš and School of Economics from Pirot (retailing speciality) with a three-year curriculum. Furthermore, in 2004, a Management College from Blace commenced work in the premises of the grammar school.

The students achieve good results in the fields of science and art, reaching republic competition level in physics, informatics, mathematics and languages. Students, writers and poets, have been bestowed numerous honours and awards in various competitions and literary festivals. The school also boasts extraordinary sportsmen, who achieve enviable results, at home and abroad, as well.

In 2004/2005, school year 340 students have been enrolled. 182 students in grammar school classes, 122 students of tourism and catering and 36 students of retailing. The total number of classes is 14, 8 grammar school classes, 4 tourism and catering classes and 2 retailing classes. The grammar school employs 35 teachers.
